A patient-controlled digital art wall allows patients to choose which natural landscape scene is displayed. This is an important component of our evidence-based design hypothesis. A connection to nature is an important part of the healing process. With both a window to the outdoors and the digital art display, patients can feel connected to nature even when they are confined to the indoors.
Fixed-in-place or weighted furniture prevents patients from using it destructively. This weighted, moveable ottoman is fitted with vinyl upholstery and designed for patient and staff safety. Safety in behavioral health settings is a top priority for patients, family and staff alike.
This feature is built into the environment and provides multiple seating options and flexible use of space. Patients have control over where they sit and how they use the room.
Connection to the outdoors is emphasized through a large window that not only provides natural light but also a four inch opening, complying with FGI guidelines, that patients can operate for access to fresh air. Integral blinds are built-in so that patients can control the amount of light that enters their room.
The patient can choose their preferred bed position by sliding the bed laterally along the headwall.
With multiple options for storage within the patient room, patients can bring and keep personal belongings like books, family pictures or other items that bring comfort or entertainment.
